This time i'd like to talk about a product which has taken India by storm. It is the number one selling product in India.
Ladies and gentle men, this is "Fair N Lovely"
"Sirf cream nahi, fairness treatment"
As they say you can get "fairer" skin in seven days. This is widely promoted in India. With many adverts brodcasted on TV every minute of the day.
The thing that shocked me was how they promote this to the young Indian girls.
I saw the advert saying that you can only be a Bollywood star if you have fair skin. Also showing a girl winning a singing contest because she was using this fairness cream. The teen aged girl had beautiful brown skin, which she should be proud of. But she was brainwashed into thinking she was ugly and not beautiful unless she used a fairness cream. So she used it and she achieved her dreams.

Is this correct?
Do you want this for your kids?
But, this is the reality of India.

But, this is the reality of India.
My friends, we all know this isn't correct at all. But why do we do it? We should be proud of what we have and not change to fit someone elses "image"
Just look at how beautiful Bipasha Basu, Vidya Balan and some others in Bollywood are.
Dont change yourself into this image...
That is Yami Gautam. You may remember her from the "Fair N Lovely" adverts. She resembles a ghost. This is not beautiful at all.
Just an image of a white woman on an Indian woman. It doesn't look good.
No matter how much you bleach or use fairness cream on your body, it will not change the colour of the skin which your child will be born with. They will be dark since your natural skin is dark.
India is a nation which is obsessed with have this fair skin which they claim it to be "perfect"
I think and I said think, they love fair skin because of the times when the British used to rule over India. They see it like this. If you have fair skin you have power and wealth and you can do anything and no one can stop you.
If India really wants to be as great as the United States Of America and Great Britain they need to change there mindset and get with the times.
Here in England people are getting fake tans just so they can have brown skin.
While the Indians are whitening theirs.
This is totally wrong.
If only they knew the truth about what people really think of beauty they would think twice before using these creams.
And the truth is that they do not work half the times and cause out break of spots all over your face and a danger to your health.
Later along the line, you might get skin cancer.
This is a proven fact and not some lie I have made up.
I thought I couldn't get a bigger headache from my research on fair and lovely. Then I found out about "Fair N Handsome" This is the same product as "fair n lovely" but this is for men.
To be honest, I didn't think Indian men would be so obsessed with their looks as females are, so I was quite surprised upon this discovery.
The face of this product is no other than the proclaimed "King Of Bollywood" ShahRukh Khan or as many called him "SRK" for short.
I would never think that a man with brown skin would be the face of "Fair N handsome"
And this concludes my post.
Thanks for reading and I hope you have gained some knowledge from this.
